DocVoice (문서 음성 변환기) License Terms

Seller: Geon Byeon (변건) · Effective October 9, 2026

This is an English translation of the Korean license terms (사용권 약관). If the two versions differ, the Korean version prevails.

These terms are the conditions of use of the Windows program "DocVoice" (문서 음성 변환기) and its updates (the "Program") provided by the seller Geon Byeon (the "Seller"). By installing or using the Program, you are deemed to agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Program.

1. License

1.1 The Seller grants a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Program to anyone who bought the Program in the Microsoft Store, obtained it in the Microsoft Store with a promotional code given by the Seller, or received it directly from the Seller (the "User"). A copy bought in the Microsoft Store or obtained there with a promotional code may be installed on the devices the Microsoft Store terms of use permit; a copy received directly from the Seller may be installed on the devices the Seller permits.

1.2 The trial may be used under the same conditions as these terms during the trial period shown in the Microsoft Store. After the trial period ends, the Program must be bought to keep using it.

1.3 The User may use the MP3 files made with the Program for personal and business purposes, provided that the User complies with Articles 3 and 4.

1.4 The Program is licensed, not sold. The rights in the Program, except its open-source components, belong to the Seller, and all rights these terms do not expressly grant remain with the Seller.

2. Prohibited acts

The User may not:

(1) copy the Program and distribute, sell or rent it to others, or let others use it remotely;

(2) remove or alter the copyright notices, license notices or AI-synthesized voice notices of the Program;

(3) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the parts made by the Seller. This article does not restrict what the licenses of the open-source components in Article 5 permit for those components (including replacing the LGPL libraries and reverse engineering to debug such modifications);

(4) use the Program for a purpose that violates the law.

3. Use restrictions of the voice model

The speech synthesis model of the Program, Supertonic 3 (Supertone Inc.), is provided under the OpenRAIL-M license. That license requires every user to comply with the use restrictions below (Attachment A of the license). The User agrees not to use the Program or the voice it makes:

(a) In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;

(b) For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;

(c) To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others;

(d) To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;

(e) To generate or disseminate information and/or content (e.g. images, code, posts, articles), and place the information and/or content in any context (e.g. bot generating tweets) without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine generated;

(f) To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;

(g) To impersonate or attempt to impersonate (e.g. deepfakes) others without their consent;

(h) For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;

(i) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;

(j) To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm;

(k) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;

(l) To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation;

(m) To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting an individual will commit fraud/crime commitment (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).

If the User violates this article, the Seller may terminate the license, and the User must stop using the Program. The full text of the OpenRAIL-M license is in the Program under [Help] > [About] > [View full licenses].

4. AI-synthesized voice notice

The voice the Program makes is synthesized by AI, not recorded by a person. The Program records this fact in the MP3 file information (ID3 tags). When the User passes the voice on to others or publishes it, the User must also state that it is an AI-synthesized voice.

5. Open-source components

The Program contains open-source components. For each component, its own license applies before these terms. The list of components, their full license texts and how to obtain the source code of the LGPL components are under [Help] > [About] > [View full licenses]. No provision of these terms restricts the rights those licenses give the User.

6. Hancom notice

본 제품은 한글과컴퓨터의 한/글 문서 파일(.hwp) 공개 문서를 참고하여 개발하였습니다. (This product was developed with reference to Hancom's public documentation of the Hangul (.hwp) document file format.)

7. Personal information

The Program works only on the User's PC without connecting to the internet and does not send document contents or personal information to the Seller or to third parties. Settings, work history and the readings chosen by the AI are stored only on the User's PC. A copy obtained from the Microsoft Store asks the Microsoft Store component of Windows whether it is a trial or a purchase. Microsoft handles this check, purchases and payments, and the Microsoft Privacy Statement applies to that information.

8. Updates

The Seller may provide updates that fix or improve the Program through the Microsoft Store or as installer files the Seller delivers directly. The Seller has no obligation to provide any particular feature or update.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

9.1 The Program is provided as is. The Seller does not warrant that the text extraction, the detection of tables and formulas, the readings (including readings chosen by the AI) or the synthesized speech are accurate. Before converting an important document, check the content to be read in the review screen.

9.2 The Program is not made for decisions on medical, legal or safety matters.

10. Limitation of liability

The Seller is not liable for indirect, special or consequential damages (such as loss of data or of business) arising from the use of the Program. The Seller's liability does not exceed the amount the User paid for the Program. This article does not apply to damages caused by the Seller's intent or gross negligence, or to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Withdrawal and refunds

11.1 The Program is digital content, and its features can be tried with the trial before purchase. Under Article 17(2)5 and Article 17(6) of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. of the Republic of Korea, withdrawal of the purchase may be restricted once the User starts using the Program after purchase.

11.2 Refunds follow the refund policy of the Microsoft Store. This article does not restrict the rights applicable law guarantees the User.

12. Termination

If the User violates these terms, the Seller may terminate the license. When the license is terminated, the User must stop using the Program and delete it. Articles 3, 4, 9 and 10 remain in effect after termination.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes relating to these terms are resolved by the court that has jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act of the Republic of Korea.

14. Contact

Send questions, bug reports, reports about readings made by the AI and requests for open-source source code to the seller contact shown in the Program under [Help] > [About] or on the app page of the Microsoft Store. A User who received the Program directly from the Seller may also contact the Seller directly.
